Overview
Hybrid job templates let you define a reusable interview script where some sections are copied exactly to every job and others are generated by AI for each specific role using the job description — and, when available, a linked Meeting Copilot or Autopilot intake context. If every section is fixed (Use Exactly) and you do not use AI Blocks, Tenzo treats the template as a Script template instead. Both kinds are job templates; the difference is how much of each linked job stays locked to the template versus editable per job. See Script vs Hybrid below.Enabling hybrid mode
The Hybrid Templates option must be turned on for your organization (and optionally overridden per job) under Admin → Interview Settings or Job → Configure → Settings, in the Template Settings section. The kind is stored on the template and snapshotted when you propagate changes to linked jobs, so in-flight updates use the kind from save time.
Section Modes
Each content section of a job script can be set to one of two modes: Use Exactly — The content you write in the template is copied word-for-word to every job derived from it. Linked jobs cannot edit that section; edit the template and propagate to change it. AI Generated — The AI writes fresh content for each job based on the job description and any linked Meeting Copilot or Autopilot intake context. When a section is set to AI Generated, you can also write generation instructions: guidance the AI uses every time that section is generated. Linked jobs can edit that content, and most AI Generated sections can also be regenerated on the job — see Editing a Job Created from a Hybrid Template. The sections you can control are:AI Blocks
In addition to section-level modes, you can add AI Blocks to the screening questions. An AI Block is a placeholder that the AI expands into a group of questions when the job is created. Each block has a title and optional instructions describing what to generate. Each AI Block also has a Default Importance setting. Every question generated from that block uses this importance, so choose Info for questions that should collect information without affecting the candidate’s score. All AI blocks are expanded together in a single AI call so the AI has full context across all blocks, preventing duplicate or overlapping questions between them. Questions generated from AI blocks are grouped by block title in the job editor.Regenerating AI Questions
On a linked job, each AI Block group in Screening Questions has Regenerate Block on the group itself. That re-expands only that block from the current job description (and any linked Meeting Copilot or Autopilot intake context). Other blocks stay as they are; the AI still sees those existing questions so it does not duplicate them. Regenerate AI Questions at the bottom of the step re-runs expansion for every AI block at once, replacing all previously generated block questions with a new set. The Screening Questions step can show a few different regenerate controls, and they do different things:
A job can show the section Regenerate control together with the block controls when its template sets Screening Questions to AI Generated and also uses AI Blocks.
Pending AI Blocks on linked jobs
A linked job can keep an AI Block as a pending placeholder when the template is copied without expanding that block — for example after a template save that updates linked jobs without regenerating AI questions, or after someone deletes the generated questions for a block. Pending blocks stay visible on the job so you can see the topic and generate later. They are not used until you generate them:- Candidates are not asked the authoring instructions
- The script preview skips them
- Scoring ignores them
Creating a Hybrid Template
- Create a new job and enable the Template toggle.
- For each content section, set the mode to Use Exactly or AI Generated using the toggle in the section header.
- In the Screening Questions step, add fixed questions as usual. Click Add AI Block to add a placeholder where the AI should generate questions for a specific topic.
- Save the template.
Creating a Job from a Hybrid Template
When a job is created from a hybrid template:- The job description is read from your ATS (or entered manually).
- All AI Generated sections are generated using that job description and any linked Meeting Copilot or Autopilot intake context.
- All AI blocks in the screening questions are expanded into real questions.
- Use Exactly sections are copied from the template unchanged.
Editing a Job Created from a Hybrid Template
Jobs created from a hybrid template are partially editable. A banner at the top of the job editor explains what can be changed and links back to the source template. In the Configure sidebar, tabs for sections the template marked AI Generated show a sparkle icon — the same mark used on the template — so you can see which parts of the linked job were generated. Screening Questions also shows a sparkle when the job has questions from AI Blocks.Editable on the linked job
- AI Generated sections (Call Intro, Screening Questions, Call Outro, outreach, interview link messages) — content produced by the AI can be freely edited, and most of these sections can also be regenerated on the job.
- Screening questions from AI Blocks — individual questions generated from AI blocks can be edited, reordered, or removed. Pending (unexpanded) AI Blocks show as unused placeholders with Generate; they are not asked or scored until you generate them.
- Settings — job-level settings such as Caller Settings (voice, language, and related options) and other job configuration can be adjusted independently of the template.
Regenerating a section on the linked job
Each AI Generated script section on a linked job shows a Regenerate button — in the section header for Call Intro, Initial SMS, Initial Email, Interview Link Email, Interview Link SMS, and Call Outro, and on the AI Generated question group for Screening Questions. Clicking it re-runs generation for that one section using the job’s current description and its linked Meeting Copilot or Autopilot intake note, then replaces that section’s content on the job. The template is untouched. For Screening Questions, regenerating re-expands the template’s AI Blocks against the job’s current description (and any linked intake note) and recopies the template’s hardcoded questions. Questions a recruiter added directly on the job are kept and appended after. This regenerate also re-checks question constraints and can refresh boosted keywords used for sourcing. Resume Review Requirements and Sourcing Requirements have no per-section Regenerate button. Resume requirements are managed as the job’s saved requirements rather than through section regeneration, and sourcing requirements are configured on the template only — linked jobs receive them by cascade.Locked (managed by the template)
- Use Exactly sections — content copied from the template cannot be changed on the derived job. To update it, edit the template and propagate to linked jobs.
- Template-owned screening questions — questions that were defined directly on the template (not from AI blocks) cannot be edited on the derived job.
- Turning the job into a template — a job created from a template cannot itself be marked as a template (that would nest templates). Create a new template instead.
Locked (managed by the ATS)
- Job description — for ATS-synced jobs, the field is read-only in the job editor and in the Generation Instructions regenerate modal. Update the description in your ATS to change it; Tenzo pulls in the latest description on every job sync.
Script-template linked jobs
Jobs created from a Script template stay fully managed by the template for script content and settings. Edit the template (and choose which linked jobs to update) to change those jobs.Updating Linked Jobs (Propagation)

Apply settings changes
When propagating, Apply settings changes is on by default. Leave it on to overwrite job settings from the template on the jobs you select (Script and Hybrid), with ATS rule overlays where applicable. On Script templates, brand / WhatsApp / call-type identity fields also update. Turn it off to update script content and requirements only, and leave each job’s settings (and identity fields) as they are.Preview before propagating
Before confirming, you can Preview changes for the jobs you selected. The preview compares what would change on each linked job — settings groups, script fields, resume requirements, sourcing requirements, and recipient lists — without saving yet. Recipient diffs use the same ATS hiring-team + integration-rule + template resolution confirm applies. Sections you opted to regenerate with AI are listed as “will be regenerated.” For any selected job, you can Show what this would generate to run the same AI generation that confirm will use and see the proposed copy (marked as AI Generated). If you generate for a job, confirm writes that text instead of generating again. Jobs you do not generate still regenerate in the background after save. Going back and changing prompts or regeneration targets clears those previews. Use Back to return to the save options, adjust mode / jobs / the settings toggle / regeneration targets, and re-run the preview. Confirm only when you are ready; that saves the template and starts propagation.What propagates for each kind

- When Apply settings changes is on: job settings (including brand, WhatsApp, and call-type related configuration) are overwritten from the template, with ATS rule overlays where applicable.
- When Apply settings changes is off: settings and identity fields stay job-local; script and requirements still update.
- Results Email and Schedule Follow-up Users update on selected jobs unless someone has already edited those lists on the job. Job-local edits are kept.
- Job description stays owned by the job / ATS.
- Use Exactly sections update on selected jobs from the template.
- Shared template metadata that should stay aligned (for example background info and opt-in / voicemail prompt text) can also update.
- When Apply settings changes is on: full job settings are overwritten from the template, with ATS rule overlays where applicable. Brand, WhatsApp, and call types stay job-local on Hybrid. Resume Screening controls (Minimum Star Rating, Maximum Distance) stay visible on the template even when Resume Review Requirements is set to AI Generated — they are settings, not generated requirements text.
- AI Generated section content on the job is left alone unless you opt into regeneration for those sections.
- Caller Settings email and SMS template pickers stay job-local on Hybrid cascade (they are not part of the settings overwrite).
- Results Email and Schedule Follow-up Users update on selected jobs unless someone has already edited those lists on the job. Job-local edits are kept.
