Overview

Tenzo can send candidates a rejection email in two primary scenarios:
  • Manual rejection: when a recruiter thumbs down a candidate in a job.
  • Auto-reject / resume screening: when a candidate is disqualified during resume review (if resume disqualification is enabled for the job).
Rejection emails are controlled by the Rejection Emails setting group and the selected Rejection Email Template. For template details (variables, defaults, and campaign-specific selection), see Rejection Email Templates.

Where to configure

You can configure rejection email behavior at two levels:
  • Organization defaults: Admin → Interview Settings (applies as the default for all jobs)
  • Job overrides: Job → Configure → Settings (optional, depending on org requirements)

Settings explained

Enable Rejection Emails

  • What it does: Turns rejection emails on/off.
  • When emails are sent:
    • Thumbs down → email is scheduled shortly after the thumbs down.
    • Auto-reject (resume disqualification) → email is scheduled later (typically delayed, and aligned to outreach hours).
  • Email content: The actual subject/body comes from your Rejection Email Template (see Rejection Email Templates).
  • What it does: Adds a link in the rejection email that opens a candidate-facing rejection details page.
  • What candidates see: If resume requirements exist for the job, the page can show which requirements did not match.
  • This is the toggle that enables the “candidate evaluation page” link. Without it, candidates won’t be able to reach the rejection details page.

Let candidates ask for a re-review

  • What it does: Enables a “Request Review” form on the rejection details page, where candidates can submit an explanation for reconsideration.
  • Important: Candidates can only reach this page if the rejection email includes the rejection-details link.

Show the AI’s explanation

  • What it does: If the rejection details page is showing failed resume requirements, this toggle also reveals AI reasoning text (when available) explaining the requirement outcome.

Templates (how the setting affects the email)

  • The template controls the email subject/body and can include variables like candidate name and job name.
  • If “Include a link…” is enabled, Tenzo appends the rejection-details link to the email body (in addition to the template text). This is what allows candidates to open the rejection details page.
See Rejection Email Templates for template setup and examples.
