# WhatsApp Embedded Signup

> Connect an organization to WhatsApp with Facebook Embedded Signup from the Org Phone Numbers page

<Warning>
  **Restricted Access**: Only support users can open **Org Phone Numbers**, so this setup is done by the Tenzo team, not by customers.
</Warning>

## What this does

Embedded Signup connects an organization to WhatsApp in one sitting. A Facebook login creates (or selects) the customer's WhatsApp Business Account, and Tenzo:

1. Creates a Twilio subaccount for the organization, if it does not have one yet.
2. Registers the chosen phone number as a WhatsApp sender on that subaccount.
3. Saves the WhatsApp Business Account on the organization.
4. Copies Tenzo's three WhatsApp message templates onto the organization's account and submits them to Meta for approval.

Embedded Signup is only for an organization's **first** WhatsApp number. Additional numbers use **Link WhatsApp account** on the same page and join the WhatsApp Business Account that is already connected.

## Before you start

* **No existing WhatsApp senders**: the organization must have no WhatsApp numbers yet. An organization that already linked numbers the manual way stays on that account.
* **A Twilio phone number on the organization**: the number must already be one of the organization's phone numbers and must be a Twilio number. Buy one under **Buy new phone numbers** on the same page if needed.
* **Someone who can log in to the customer's Meta Business account**: the WhatsApp Business Account is created under the business of whoever logs in to Facebook. If that is the customer, run the signup with them on a call.

## Connect WhatsApp

1. Open the account menu and choose **Org Phone Numbers**, then the **WhatsApp senders** tab.
2. Click **Connect WhatsApp**. If the page shows **Link WhatsApp account** instead, contact support to enable WhatsApp signup for the organization.
3. Choose the **Phone number**, enter the **Business display name** (the name shown in WhatsApp), and optionally an **About** description.
4. Wait for the button to change from **Preparing number…** to **Log in with Facebook**, then click it.
5. In the Facebook window, log in, choose or create the business, and confirm the phone number.
6. When Facebook asks how to receive the verification code, choose a text message. The code is texted to the Tenzo number, and the **Verification code** box in the signup window shows it within a few seconds. Enter that code in the Facebook window.
7. Finish the Facebook steps. The window closes and Tenzo shows **WhatsApp connected**.

The verification code is only picked up while the signup window is open, for up to 15 minutes. Closing the window or cancelling in Facebook ends the session; start again from **Connect WhatsApp**.

## After signup

* **Sender status**: the new number appears in the senders table. It can show **Pending verification** for a short time before it turns **Online**.
* **Templates**: the three WhatsApp templates (call invite, interview link, call request) start as **Pending** on **Admin → Templates Bank → WhatsApp Templates** while Meta reviews them. See [WhatsApp Templates](/templates/whatsapp-templates).
* **Sending**: WhatsApp messages for the organization cannot go out until Meta approves its templates. Approval usually takes minutes but can take up to a day or two. If template setup fails during signup, the signup still succeeds and Tenzo retries the next time someone opens the WhatsApp Templates page or a WhatsApp message is sent.
