# External agent

> Help visitors find jobs and apply from your careers website.

Your External agent answers questions and helps candidates find active jobs in Tenzo from a chat on your careers website. Visitors can chat without a Tenzo account. The chat uses your branding and displays **Powered by Tenzo**.

## Set up your agent

External agent is available to organizations with access enabled by Tenzo. Only organization administrators can open the **External agent** workspace. Once enabled for your organization, open it in Tenzo. Choose your branding colors and the agent's persona, then add the information visitors need:

* **Custom context**: instructions and information the agent can use to answer questions.
* **Company background**: a description of your company, culture, and hiring process.
* **FAQ**: reviewed questions and answers you want to share with all visitors. Add them in **Configuration** and save your changes to publish them to the agent.
* **Resources**: named links to useful pages on your website.

Add your careers website's origin to **Allowed website origins**, such as `https://careers.example.com`. Enable the agent when your information is ready, then copy the installation script into your careers page's HTML. Preview the chat before sharing it with candidates.

## Help candidates find a job

The agent asks job seekers to upload a resume and provide any missing name, email, or phone information. It uses their resume to suggest suitable active jobs in Tenzo. The chat shows progress while searching, and visitors can return to the chat to see their results. If the search fails, they can retry. If no suitable job is available, it tells the visitor.

Candidates can select **Apply** on a suggested job. Tenzo creates their application and follows the job's hiring process. When an AI interview is ready, the chat provides a scheduling link that verifies their contact information before continuing. Interview invitations are also sent by email and, when the candidate consents, SMS. Otherwise, the chat tells the candidate that your team will follow up with next steps.

For a phone interview, candidates verify their phone number with an SMS code before scheduling their callback. For a video interview, they can verify by email or SMS.

If a visitor's contact information matches an existing candidate, the agent can confirm that they are already in your system. Their request stays pending until they choose **Continue application** and verify their contact information. The job's review process can delay an interview after verification. For jobs without AI interviews, the chat records a pending request for your team to follow up privately. The chat does not display previous applications, interview results, or other candidate records, or mark a pending request as completed when the visitor continues outside the chat.

## Review conversations and unanswered questions

The sessions table lets you search and filter conversations, open a transcript, and review information the visitor supplied. Returning visits from the same browser can be grouped together. Location is approximate and may be unavailable.

When the agent cannot answer a question, it asks for an email address or phone number for follow-up. The question appears with the visitor's record in your unanswered questions list. Save a private follow-up answer there and contact the visitor through your usual follow-up process. Saving that answer records the follow-up; it does not send a reply or share the question or answer with other visitors. To make an answer available publicly, review it, remove personal details, and add it to **Frequently asked questions** in **Configuration**, then save your changes.
